Was Shakespeare A Fraud?

Had to be there I imagen, but for arguments sakes, I think any fraudulent behavior would have had him well noticed for other reasons rather than by the ones we know him today…Fraud, hypocrisy, pretending, seems a natural part of modern life, a large chunk of most of history was based on such behavior, and, we actively encourage our children to pretend from a fairly young age. In the face of mass advertising, fast food, fast lives, fiber internet and even faster relationships, how do we really know what’s real?

Jim Adams has this wonderful #Song Lyric Sunday gig within his blog that I was immediately drawn to, misunderstood posting for commenting, and then grasped the nuances of amongst 2am twinkling stars; realizing also, its officially not really Sunday anymore…. Coincidently, it fits well with a lot of the issues I face daily and currently amongst the local and international trends for covert illegal activity, faster and better ‘fakers’, and applying that garden mentality to weed out the honest thieves from the truly bent. From the Taming of the Shrew comes the words of Petruchio-

Petruchio infamously declares

I will be master of what is mine own.
She is my goods, my chattels. She is my house,
My household-stuff, my field, my barn,
My horse, my ox, my ass, my any thing (act 3, scene 2)

So from a world hell bent on hypocrisy and pretending, I have pulled this little number, and it shall go forth like the out of date monstrosity currently perched on the toes of the wee Fairy Penguins, the Korora at Kennedy Point Marina Development, all foreign rank, no belly, mostly only good for trashy evenings and not suitable for sensitive audiences despite being placed in the public sphere…

If your out of direction, fake it, your such a f##### hypocrite..

Lyrics:

Who’s to know if your soul will fade at all The one you sold to fool the world You lost your self-esteem along the way Yeah Good god you’re coming up with reasons Good god you’re dragging it out Good god it’s the changing of the seasons I feel so raped So follow me down And just fake it if you’re out of direction Fake it if you don’t belong here Fake it if you feel like affection Woah you’re such a fucking hypocrite And you should know that the lies won’t hide your flaws No sense in hiding all of yours You gave up on your dreams along the way Yeah Good god you’re coming up with reasons Good god you’re dragging it out Good god it’s the changing of the seasons I feel so raped So follow me down And just fake it if you’re out of direction Fake it if you don’t belong here Fake it if you feel like affection Woah you’re such a fucking hypocrite Whoah Whoah I can fake with the best of anyone I can fake with the best of ’em all I can fake with the best of anyone I can fake it all Who’s to know if your soul will fade at all The one you sold to fool the world You lost your self-esteem along the way Yeah Good god you’re coming up with reasons Good god you’re dragging it out Good god it’s the changing of the seasons I feel so raped Man, follow me down And just fake it if you’re out of direction Fake it if you don’t belong here Fake it if you feel like affection Woah you’re such a fucking hypocrite Fake it if you’re out of direction Fake it if you don’t belong here Fake it if you feel like affection Woah you’re such a fucking hypocrite
